With the advent and popularity of the smart phone, it’s only natural that an app would come along to allow you to update your blog from the road. Not that I would recommend blogging while driving. And that app is here on Android and iPhone. I am a Verizon customer, not AT&T, so I will be talking about the WordPress App for Android.

I am a Droid 2 user, and I’m responsible for multiple blogs, so it seemed pretty natural to install the app on my phone and give it a try.

Unfortunately, its very apparent from the beginning that this app will be of little use to people trying to update client blogs. This app is meant for the average citizen to use for updating a personal blog.

That’s not a bad thing if you fall in that category. I don’t though.

With this app, there is no access to SEO functions at all. No access to your plug-ins either. Your options for editing are bold, italicize, strikethrough and underline as well as link and b-quote. That’s it.

You can upload either a pic or video, and they can be from the gallery or you can use your phones camera to take the pic or video right then.

You can tag it, thank God, and pick a category, and that’s about it. You choose to publish or save it, and you’re done.

You can also make and edit pages, and deal with comments. Not much else. Oh, you can also check WordPress stats.

So if you’re trying to run a personal blog, or you need to update a blog right that instant, then WordPress for Android is great.

Just don’t expect a lot more than that.
